Nike’s expanding to Brooklyn with a new retail location at 2236 Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush. This comes after Nike made a surprising expansion beyond Manhattan by opening up a Nike Factory store in Queens at the beginning of April. This latest shop comes on the heels of a new development project set to bring in big box retailers by Brooklyn College and the Triangle Junction Mall and will be situated near an existing Target location as well as 60,000 square foot retail development across the street. The 20,000-square-foot space is being billed as the second Nike Community Store program on the East Coast, with a focus to create jobs while giving back to the local community, but with so many retail chains and mom-and-pops existing around the area, could this development encroach on existing businesses? The brand’s first east coast Community Store opened up earlier in the year in Washington D.C. and opened to much success. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates.
