Over the last two years, J.Crew has built itself quite a reputation as one of the best sneaker collaborators out there. Unfortunately, the menswear giant can no longer fly under the radar in the sneaker world thanks to Frank Muytjens’ keenness for color-blocking on silhouettes from the fellow American-born New Balance. In fact, J.Crew has played a big role in pushing sneakers into the mainstream; their footwear department often carries some great heritage models from a ton of brands, but their selection of NB models is top-shelf.
Today, J.Crew announces their next collaboration with New Balance, highlighting the 990 V.1 model from 1982. The colorways of “Cobblestone” and “Indigo Flame” take form here, in which the rustic tan and brown tones and sporty indigo and hot orange act in contrast to one other. But above an New York City subway platform, they look comfortably at home, and you’ll have the opportunity to bring ’em into yours when J.Crew drops them exclusively here on March 7th. Get a detailed look below and stay tuned for the official release in two days.
The J.Crew x New Balance 990 V.1 releases on March 7th at jcrew.com/jcrewxnb. They will also release at 10 AM EST at the Liquor Store (NYC) and Men’s Shop at Copley Square (Boston). On March 11th, a wider release will occur in Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Honolulu, LA, NYC, San Francisco, Washington D.C., Hong Kong, London and at jcrew.com.
