Of the many sneaker silhouettes that for all intents and purposes, stand for one thing, then get transformed into another, the New Balance 996 runner has taken on a mid-cut form. Though not too far removed from its traditional runner centric frame, the mid allows for a cozier and warm wear in current times and the months ahead. Much like the H710, the 996 Mid evokes a boot-like feel through a pairing of mesh and suede construction atop a REVlite midsole. Leather branding, of course, works the “N” logo at the mid foot while the November 2014 releases consists of royal blue, dark green and cream color variants. Textile lining enhances comfort and stability while tonal heel counters complete each style.
