The mid-top Air Max 1 is the latest rendition of Tinker’s ’87-born classic, and before a slew of in-line colorways begin to hit stores, Nike has chosen to launch this taller silhouette on the online customization platform known as NIKEiD. The Sneaker News staff likes toying around with the options when they come available, and given the wide range of possibilities, we decided to present to you some of our own mock-ups of the shoe inspired by other “1” colorways.
What that means is that we’ve thought of other iconic first installments in the Nike catalog – the Air Jordan 1, Air Foamposite One, the first of three Riccardo Tisci x Air Force 1 collaborations – you get the point. Check out this gallery of sneakers that we rendered online and let us know if you think we’re off on any of our designs, and if you want to try out some of your own concepts, head on over to NIKEiD right now because the Air Max 1 Mid is officially ready for purchase,
AIR JORDAN 1
The Air Jordan 1 and Air Max 1 were just two years apart in debut. This mix of red, white, and black is indeed a tribute to one of the most iconic sneaker colorways in the history of shoes.
TISCI x AIR FORCE 1
Designer Riccardo Tisci took the classic AF1 silhouette and rebuilt some major components to the shoe, giving the streetwear staple a high-end look. We took the debut White colorway and placed it onto the Air Max 1 Mid iD. All that’s missing is the strap!
AIR HUARACHE
The Huaraches are all the rage, so we decided to color up the AM1 Mid with this OG White/Green/Yellow colorway in mind.
AIR ZOOM GENERATION
Seriously, when is Nike going to Retro the LeBron line? Until then, we’ll have to resort to NIKEiD to relive some of the rookie year magic. How’d we do with our “First Game” design?
DANNY SUPA
The first series of the Nike SB Dunk is a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction (if a sneaker HOF ever existed). We took the loudest of the inaugural batch, the Danny Supa edition, onto the Air Max 1. Just a few shades off of blue and orange, but still a righteous colorway nonetheless.
AIR YEEZY 1
Can’t do an iD and leave out the Yeezys. We went with the “Gala Glimmer” option on the upper to give these that added flair.
SPORT BLUE
The original Air Max 1 colorways look perfect on the Mid! Get your own now on Nike iD.
ROYAL FOAMS
Another “One” that gets a lot of love is the Royal Foamposites, which debuted back in 1997. Going with a full leather upper in blue and an icy sole, these Air Max 1 Mids almost achieve that magical Penny vibe.
