We already told you what is definitely going down this month in the footwear world with our gathering of 2014 July sneaker releases. But not all of the forthcoming sneaker events and news stories are set in stone just yet, so we’re back with another gathering of predictions regarding what might go down in the long, hot month ahead of us. The summer is always a sort of paradoxical time for the sneaker world – it’s the season most suited for bringing out the best of one’s collection but it’s usually the slowest for actual releases thanks to the NBA off-season and the large shadow cast by holiday retail plans. With that being said though, we think this month will be an interesting one.
Still commanding plenty of attention in the footwear sphere is the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Most of the shoes to come out of that event have cleats on the bottom and can’t really be used for casual purposes, but it seems like Nike will want to squeeze some special editions out of that global display of the beautiful game. There are also some stray sneakers from earlier in the year that we’re hoping will finally get tethered to some firm release information (We’re looking at you, What the LeBron 11). Before we spoil the whole lot of predictions and headlines though, start flipping through them below and tell us in the comments if you’ve got any personal predictions.
Nike Releases a World Cup Championship Trophy Sneaker
The idea of the “trophy” has been running strong with NSW releases. How perfect would it be if the brand that’s been the most active during the World Cup comes out with a Championship Trophy-inspired sneaker? If not, some Magista/Mercurial Superfly PEs would do just fine.
A Release Date For The What The LeBron 11
These hotly anticipated sneakers were originally supposed to drop in early June, but have since been postponed indefinitely. With the unveiling of the LeBron 12 likely in September and August being filled with FIBA and World Basketball Festival business, July would be a great time for these LeBrons to drop.
