American consumers are used to Nike being #1, with the Oregon brand holding a far lead on the runner-up adidas. But on a global scale, the two athletic outfitters are in a close battle on a the world’s largest and perhaps most significant sports platform – soccer. In fact, on the global sales front, adidas has Nike beat by a considerable margin, but it’s a margin that’s has steadily been closed thanks to some major advancements in the Swoosh, and considering the leader had nearly four decades a head start, Nike’s push forward is that much more impressive.. The 2014 World Cup is undeniably a pivotal sporting event for both brands (you’ll see plenty of logos from both flying around your TV screens), and it’s during these soccer extravaganzas that business analysts will take an emphatic look at this raging rivalry.
