There has been much “What The” talk this week as Nike Basketball officially unveiled the wild What the LeBron 11 and What the KD 6 styles. For those that don’t know, the Nike SB “What the Dunk” creation from back in 2007 was the first Swoosh shoe featuring a mash up style, with a ton of classic Dunk releases decorating the asymmetric set. It wasn’t until the Nike Kobe VII in 2012 that Nike Basketball eventually picked up on the theme, but since then, the “What The” has been a go-to concept for creating high energy around the shoes. Regarding the Dunks; these were incredibly limited in release (no more than 300, allegedly), and were sold in conjunction with the launch of Nike SB’s first film “Nothing but the Truth”, and released only where the film was being screened.
