Eric Koston is as much a tinkerer as he is passionate about skating, so when he first signed with Nike Skateboarding, Koston tried out all kinds of rubber compounds and traction patterns in an effort to get the perfect combo for his first Swoosh signature shoe.  He ultimately settled on LunarLon for cushioning and a sunburst of herringbone zig-zags for traction; always in a cupsole.  This Nike SB Eric Koston 2 sample with a vulcanized sole shows that the aforementioned grip pattern can also be utilized on the classic autoclaved sole setup; might this as combined with a LunarLon footbed make for even better boardfeel than the popular Koston 2?  Stick with Sneaker News to find out if they release, and after you’ve seen more below, let us know which side of the vulc/cup fence you’re on.
