The re-telling of famed stories is something Jordan Brand has relied on heavily over the years, and this weekend’s trio of Air Jordan Retros dubbed the “Fear Pack” certainly is no exception – although the true meaning behind “Fear” may have been misconstrued all along. Is the Air Jordan Fear Pack inspired by the way MJ terrorized his opponents? The dark and ghoulish color-combos seen in the Air Jordan III, IV, and V may allude to that, but there may be, believe it or not, a positive message surrounding the entire concept of Fear.
The profound message printed on the insoles of the Fear Pack sneakers is taken directly from Michael’s own words from Jordan Brand’s ad “Look me the eyes” from the Be Legendary campaign in 2008. In this revealing clip, Michael reveals what his true fear is and how it became his motivation to succeed and surpass his own expectations. He finishes his speech with a simple explanation of his success: “I have something more important than courage. I have patience. I will become what I know I am.”
