This is truly the golden era of sneaker releases, with footwear brands focusing on imagination and storytelling on top of design to accentuate their releases. There are, of course, a number of dream situations that we’d all love to see, and some of them have come true; the Air Jordan III Retro ’88 and the Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ are two great examples because they broadened the possibilities for both models, giving us even more reason expect stretched limits in terms of creativity. With that said, we’re starting a new “What Do You Think?” feature on Sneaker News in which we ask you, our readers, for your thoughts on some interesting sneaker concepts that not only make sense, but have potential of releasing in the future.
With the Retro category being the dominant force in the sneaker game, footwear brands have done quite well when resourcefully reintroducing its most iconic and revolutionary designs. Nike’s recent ‘OG’ releases of their original Air Max models is, ironically, a fresh way to put the shoes back on the shelves, with the pre-yellowed midsoles and other aged qualities being the focus on these bringbacks. Our question to you is: What do you think of an Air Jordan Retro VNTG release? We know Jordan Brand jumped the hurdle in regards to bringing back ‘Nike Air’, but an Air Jordan III with pre-yellowed midsoles and back-tabs or a pair of Air Jordan Vs with the right tint on the once-icy outsole and netting might turn a few heads, and who knows how much longer Jordan Brand can re-release the same Retros again and again? Pretty much every original Air Jordan from 1 through VII could potentially be redone in this special VNTG way so check out the gallery of some OG Air Jordans that could potentially return in VNTG style and let’s get the discussion going in this installment of WDYT?.
Air Jordan 1 – We’ve already gotten a taste of what an Air Jordan 1 VNTG could look like thanks to the Air Jordan 1 ‘Banned’, Air Jordan AJKO, and previous Dunk High VNTG releases. It’s a formula that’s worked, but will it work for Air Jordans II-VII? Check out these four original Air Jordan 1s below.

Air Jordan 1 “Royal” – Original
Air Jordan II – What if Jordan Brand decides to manufacture these VNTG 2s in Italy like it used to, and give it some darkened tones to exude some distinguished age? Take a look at two original pairs of the Air Jordan II and let us know what you think.

Air Jordan II “Slam Dunk” – Original
Air Jordan III – The shoe that made us think of this concept would be a hit if Nike Air was returned on all the OGs. Would you be open to yellowed back-tabs and faded elephant print, though? The cracked midsoles might be a bit much though.

Air Jordan III “Fire Red” – Original

Air Jordan III “True Blue” – Original
Air Jordan IV – Considered by many to be the greatest Air Jordan of all-time, the Air Jordan IV would definitely turn all heads if it returned with Nike Air on the heel. What if it was done true OG style with yellowed netting?

Air Jordan IV “Bred” – Original

Air Jordan IV “Military” – Original

Air Jordan IV “Fire Red” – Original
Air Jordan V – The first Air Jordan to feature reflective material, lace-locks, and translucent soles would be rather interesting of the reflective was a little faded, the lacelocks a little opaque, and the translucent soles a bit yellowed, no?

Air Jordan V “White/Fire Red-Black” – Original

Air Jordan V “Fire Red” – Original

Air Jordan V “Grape” – Original

Air Jordan VI – The 2000 Retro releases were nearly identical to the OGs, which is why they were so coveted. Would you be interested in the original VIs returning with yellowed translucent soles, or do you like them clear as ice? How about if the white leather upper was completely clean and just returned with Nike Air (like the OG Sport Blue pictured below)?

Air Jordan VII – This model was the first to shed Nike Air as a whole and utilize the Jumpman logo as the sole representative. What would you think about some weathered and faded suede, distressed leather, and some slightly yellowed midsoles? How about the return of the OG Nike Air box?
