Comic Strip Foamposite Sample

The ParaNorman Foamposites honed in on the slogan of ‘Weird Wins’, but if considering all of the crazy Air Foamposites that have surfaced, the ParaNormans are definitely the runner-up to this quirky ‘Comic Strip’ sample from 1997. Truth is, there are probably a number of 1-of-1 unreleased mock-ups that were produced solely for the purpose of testing out new colors and such on the funky Foamposite material, most of which we probably have never seen (likely stored away in a large warehouse somewhere a la the Raiders of the Lost Ark).

This ‘Comic Strip’ sample was created by Jeff Johnson – one of the understated trailblazers of the Nike brand and the first-ever full-time employee of Blue Ribbon Sports; perhaps the intent of this strange design was to serve as a canvas to display other colors or even a multi-colored approach, but considering tonal versions were all that were available in ’97, the folks at Nike may not have liked the results. In any case, this sample is one of the rarest Nike Foamposite creations out there and has fortuitously popped up at a sneaker event out in China, so check out the gallery below and let us know what you think.
