Some of the earlier Nike SB Dunk releases highlighted the regional specificity of the collaborator, like 2004’s Dunk High designed by HUF. With its roots in San Francisco, HUF founder Keith Hufnagel selected the signature Black/Orange uniform of the San Francisco Giants and added in an enticing tie-dye print on the upper. San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district is known as a focal point of the “hippie” movement, for which tie-dye has become strongly associated with. This limited edition release was a major hit in the San Francisco area and across the nation, and stands as one of the most coveted High-top releases of 2004 and in Nike SB’s legacy of Dunk releases.
