Soundgarden were one of the pillars of the early ’90s alternative rock movement, bringing an intensity to which most of that era’s slacker-minded grunge devotees could never reach. Perhaps that’s why they’re still around and relevant to this day while the Mudhoneys and Alice in Chains of the world have faded into oblivion (although, there is a little band called Pearl Jam still performing now and again). Soundgarden’s first studio album in almost sixteen years debuts today and unlike back in 1996 when there were six colors of Chucks available at your local retailer, a sneaker collaboration in 2012 is quite common when dealing with major releases or anniversaries. The Soundgarden x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star lowtop utilizes King Animal artwork and the band’s new logo on a monochromatic black style that’s limited to just sixty pairs and available now at Converse Santa Monica.
