Yesterday’s update of the Kobe VIII in the Black/Yellow colorway provided a clear view of the outer shell of the Kobe VIII, but what Eric Avar has focused on is the inner workings of the shoe that has made it one of the most popular and oft-used basketball sneakers in history. We’ll start with the tongue, which showcases the mamba snake encapsulating the Shozoku logo above calculated perforations to make the shoe as light as possible. The insole is what reveals the most; it’s built with LunarLon, giving the Kobe VIII an unprecedented bouncy cushion that Lunar has never failed to produce, and the indented markings like the System logo on the bottom may point to a return of the interchangeable ‘Fast’ and ‘Strong’ arrangement.
