Nike Air Max 90 “Leatherback” Customs by JWDanklefs

The very bare minimum requirements of a good sneaker custom is a great concept and great execution; slathering a pair of kicks in teal and pink and calling it ‘South Beach’ doesn’t make one a sneaker customizer. If you want some great examples of a “custom sneaker”, look at the projects tackled by Mache, the undisputed remixer of LeBrons, Diversitile, whose Dunk Highs are on another level, Revive, the ‘What The’ master, and JWDanklefs, whose Air Maxes never cease to impress. Of course, the list of skilled customizers is getting longer by the day and we’re not leaving anyone out deliberately, but take a look at JWDanklef’s Air Max 90 ‘Leatherback’ and you’ll note that his quality over quantity approach is what’s cherished around here. Using the popular ‘Leatherback’ theme from last year’s Fieg x GL3, JWDanklefs takes an Air Max 90 and goes tit-for-tat on the colorway, cuts out the two vents at the toe, creates a seam at the mid-foot, and even cuts the tongue from the tip to the base to mimic the Gel Lyte III. Take notes, youngsters, because this is your competition.
