Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was known for appearing on stage in a black turtleneck and jeans, and more often than not, one particular style of New Balance classic runner that’s only now getting its just due. For years, the New Balance 991 was considered by many old school running enthusiasts to occupy that purgatory in between straight vintage and modern technical builds, but especially now in a time when all the top new runners are done with myriad synthetics, the 991’s context becomes more clear.
