When Jay Meschter first developed Flywire threads for Nike, did he believe it would be in such widespread use today? The primary goal of this Vectran-composed thread was to reduce weight and maximize support, but with the design inspired by a suspension bridge, Flywire became as much of a visual benchmark as it was an engineering marvel. From the original Hyperdunk to this remixed Air Max 95, Flywire continues to be in prevalent use, but is this Air Max 95 ‘Flywire’ perhaps taking away the soul of the Air Max 95? For purists, the recent no-sew and 360 Air’ed out models were mere afterthoughts, for those who embrace the newer technology on older models, Spring 2013 is looking mighty fine. Check out the four colorways of the Air Max 95+ BB Flywire (dropping Spring 2013) and let us know what you think. Photos: TSG
