Nike has taken some major steps toward a safer release date for big-ticket items by shuffling around some of the longest-running practices of buying kicks. By introducing the Twitter RSVP system, Nike put an end to camp-outs at its 24 retail locations across the nation and theoretically alleviated the midnight-release congestion on its online store. Nikestore is now taking it a step further by nixing the midnight-release and putting shoes on the e-shelves for purchase as early as 8 AM Eastern Time. Nothing has been set in stone in regards to the official time and when this new policy will be implemented, but when paired with the Twitter RSVP system, it looks like nobody will get their kicks (or an order confirmation) at midnight – either in-store or online. Your thoughts?
