In July 2008, Nike SB dropped a Dunk High whose colorway and blocking pattern so strongly resembled an ’03 collabo that folks started calling them ‘Un-Futura’. This turned out to be one of the earliest examples of a trend we’ve seen amplified in the last year-plus, whereby Swoosh skateboarding ports over classic colorups, and with Dunks it’s usually a palette from one of the other silos. The upcoming release pictured above is a Nike SB Dunk Low just like Futura’s noteworthy collaboration, and thanks to the combination of rich blue suede along with black and white elements, it’s natural to see them as connected to Nike SB’s relatively short yet exceptionally rich history.
