After a chaotic week of sneaker releases, we bring you the final Sneaker News Weekly Rewind for the month of February. While many of you are awaiting a ‘resting’ period after this insane month of sneaker releases, it’s time to look back at one of the most newsworthy seven-day spans in recent memory. We’ll start off with the hype surrounding the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ and the Nike All-Star releases, which generated immeasurable amounts of excitement; campouts, riots, people offering cars and souls for the shoes, and other jarring details briefly summarize the impact the Galaxy Foamposite has had on the sneaker landscape, leaving us to sit back and wonder when and how the sneaker monster became so uncontainable. On top of the Foam frenzy, was the first look at the Air Jordan 6/7 Gold Medal Pack and the Air Jordan IV ‘Military’ – both of which welcomed lengthy discussions in the comments sections. Nike Basketball and Jeremy Lin took center spotlight as we got a look at some more upcoming releases as well as some PEs. Lin was a popular figure in this week’s NBA Feet segments, which featured a number of notable kicks like Q-Rich’s AJXIII PE and the NBA debut of the Air Jordan 2012.
Nike unveiled the new Nike+ Basketball and Training innovations this week while detailing the brand new Fly Knit technology that culminated in a great in-store HTM event with Mark Parker and Hiroshi Fujiwara at 21 Mercer. In addition to the new products and materials was a footwear preview of some beloved retros and new models like the Lunar Hyperdunk, as well as the NSW ‘Dream Team’ Collection. Other notable headlines included the Nike Lunar Flow Woven, which combines the Lunar Flow with a multi-colored woven upper, reminiscent of the cult classic, Air Woven. Nike Skateboarding released another beer-inspired Dunk, and we got our first peek at a crazy tonal-neon Janoski shoe. Celebrities like Victor Cruz and Kanye West made their own headlines with Yeezy 2’s and Galaxy Foams, but it was the last minute appearance of Jenny from the block in some Jay’s that eventually stole the show. Finally, the eBay auctions shifted from ‘History Of Flight’ to ‘Pantone Sample’ as we were treated with four rare Air Jordans from the set this week. Check out this week’s jam-packed Sneaker News Weekly Rewind below, and don’t forget to stay tuned for NBA All-Star 2012 coverage throughout the weekend!
