You won’t often hear Nike paired with the names ‘David Hasselhoff’ and ‘Michael Jackson‘ unless you’re talking about the Nike Night Track Disco. This sneaker, created around the turn of the 70’s into the 80’s, was made for disco boogie-ing – a true testament to Nike’s unorthodox ideas even during its earlier years. It featured a shimmering and glittery disco-ball upper with a glossy red swoosh and inner lining, and was made specifically for celebrities and Nike brass – one of the earliest ‘Friends and Family’ PEs to come out of Beaverton. Another interesting iota of trivia is that the Night Track Disco was made in the U.S., before Nike moved its factories overseas. Even some print-ads and photos of MJ and ‘The Hoff’ wearing these slicks dance-floor sneakers were produced, but according to Tenisufki, a retro release in 2012 may occur. Check out the images of the Nike Nike Track Disco and some of these vintage print-ads below and stick with Sneaker News for more updates and info regarding all Nike Retro 2012 releases.
