Late artist Rick Griffin will remain as one of the 20th century’s enduring artists as long as publishing paradigms keep the Rolling Stone logo he designed back in 1967 in the public eye. You could say that his career began at age 14 when a young Griffin started surfing and chanelled what he saw out on the beach into some Mad Magazine-inspired doodles. Rick’s ‘Murphy’ character earned notoriety in Surfer Magazine nearly five years before RS was launched, and now nearly five decades later, he’s reproduced on the tongue of this new Rick Griffin x Hurley x Converse Jack Purcell. These vibrant blue canvas Purcell lowtops remind one of the Pacific’s clearest waters, and the tongue tag opposite Murphy’s shaggy blond mane do the same for the artist. Check them out in greater detail after the jump and look for these along with a five-pack of graphic tees at Mollusk Surf Shops‘ 3 locations.
