Although Nike Free didn’t officially debut until 2004, foot-form running technology has been the focus of the Nike APE (Advanced Products Engineering) team for decades. In fact, the concept that would later become Nike Free was born in the mid-90’s, around the time of the debut of the Nike Footscape. Another 90’s-born technology is the Nike Huarache line; it cut out the excess fat and created a lightweight package of running, basketball, and training footwear never seen before. This November 2011, Nike will combine the two iconoclastic design approaches by introducing the Nike Huarache Free 2012 Basketball & Running capsule, which combines the widely-celebrated upper designs with a sport-specific Nike Free-grooved outsole. For the Nike Huarache Free 2012 Basketball, expect two ‘OG’ renditions in the White/Royal/Purple and Black/Aqua/Royal; for its Running counterpart, await the White/Gold/Teal. All three will hit Nike retailers this November 2011, so continue reading for some additional angles and let us know what you think.
