In the days before the internet sneaker scene and PEs sold like replica jerseys, the phrase ‘Red Maestro’ brought to mind images of an All-Star showoff. There are more and crazier basketball sneaker colorways these days than ever before and Scottie Pippen’s appearance at the 1994 NBA All-Star Game wearing a bullish Air Maestro Flight can be seen as one of the early movements to add a little something extra to the game. These aren’t a true retro, but it certainly does look like the changes on the Nike Flight Maestro Plus were conducted to improve performance on this nearly two decade-old silo. A bold Varsity Red upper gets the point across nicely, though we can’t help but grieve the loss of what very well could be another season filled with flashbulb moments.
