“I’m back,” he faxed, and we all went completely nuts. Michael Jordan returned to the NBA in the spring of 1995 after a meh-filled tenure in the Chicago White Sox’ farm system and basketball fans could not have been happier after having endured an NBA Finals the previous year where the main attraction was arguably a white SUV driving down the highway thousands of miles from the arena. As you’d know from first hand experience if you’ve ever played both games, it takes some time to get back into basketball shape after playing baseball all summer, and perhaps MJ himself was aware of this, as he came back in the unfamiliar ’45’ that graced his Birmingham Barons jerseys.
A new twist some sixteen years later, as the Air Jordan X Retro ‘Chicago’ that has been depicted in sample images alternately with the funky’23’ or ’45’ emrbroidery now appears to more closely reflect the original with simple white leather on the uppers of a silhouette you may have first come to appreciate on the CMFT Max Air 10s. These are part of Jordan Brand’s plan for starting 2012 off with a bang, and you can see more of this January ’12 drop after the jump. Let us know if they’re better with or without the embroidery, and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date. via SH
