Even $70 is a bit steep for your average pair of Chuck Taylors, so when Japanese designer Ryusaku ‘Sak’ Hiruma released his collaboration with Converse First String late last year, we wondered if Amazon’s runaway pricing algorithm might have gotten a hold of the MSRP and added an extra zero. But just as was the case with the First String Chucks, the sak for Converse Dr. J Pro Leather comes with the kind of ultra-premium handcrafted leather construction that makes the ten-pair pricetag seem justified. Couple the super high-end quality with the ridiculously limited 24-pair run that’ll drop this Friday, September 9th, and you can understand why even at $600, these joints will be an instant sell-out. Check out some more images after the jump and let us know if you’d ever spend a month’s rent on a pair of sneakers.
