Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 was the first in a lineage of proud Air Max runners, where each new installment featured an evolving Air Max unit. After the Air Max 1 was the Air Classic Big Window (or BW), and by 1993, the Air Max was no longer caged and visible by small windows at opposite ends of the unit. The Nike Air Max 93 featured the revolutionary 180-degree Air Max unit, where the entire rear portion of the heel featured Max Air in uncaged glory, spilling over the outsole and creating a ‘bubble’-like appearance. The 180-degree Max Air unit has changed drastically since then – redesigned in the Air Max 180 and re-tooled for the Nike Air Max Alpha 2011. Don’t consider this an all-new design, but instead a proper installment in the never-ending and ever-improving Air Max bloodline. This new Black/Sport Red colorway of the Air Max Alpha 2011 just hit Eastbay so check out the images below and don’t miss out!
