The Nike Zoom Hyperdunk launched in 2008 and shattered the molds — and not just for basketball sneakers. The Lunar foam cushioning and Flywire reinforcements that debuted on the Hyperdunk have made their way to every corner of the Swoosh catalog, from performance footwear to casually-oriented lifestyle sneakers. And while nobody expected that the biggest offshoot of the Hyper- family tree would surpass the Hyperdunk, you could certainly make a case now that the Zoom Hyperfuse is rivaling its impact. We’ve seen the heat-bonded Fuse material applied to everything from the Nike Trainer series to the Air Jordan 2011 Quick Fuse, and this week we’ve seen three new additions to Nike Sportswear’s Fuse’d lineup. But this model was the first we showed you when a black pair of Nike Dunk High Fuses popped up around the turn of the year. This new black/white/royal look is perhaps even a better fit, its high contrast palette an appropriate match for the melding of flagship basketball technologies some twenty-five years apart.
