Many were excited when the Air Jordan XI was retroed in 2000 and 2001; aside from the OG colorways, Jordanites were looking forward to the release of the ‘Space Jam’ colorway as well as the debut of the ‘Cool Grey’ version. In fact, TLC documented the release of the Cool Grey XI at Niketown Chicago for a TV special called ‘Buy-ology’, which focused on consumer trends. MJ rocked the Cool Greys when he was with the Washington Wizards for a short period of games, and then were lost in the shuffle of new Air Jordan releases as well as other Retros that Michael wore. The re-release in late 2010 was a successful one for Jordan Brand, selling out instantly nationwide. Despite a re-release, the 2001 Retro version still fetches a pretty penny, and a deadstock pair is certainly tough to find, let alone this 2000 Sample version you see here. You already know what the Cool Greys look like, but check out this rare Sample below and hit up the auction by solecollectorau on eBay.
