This February, Nike continued their tradition of issuing special sneakers in honor of Black History Month, 2011’s BHM models marked by a luxurious black/gold colorway. The 2011 BHM releases sold quickly thanks in large part to their deluxe aesthetic, but did you know a select few pairs were even fancier? Check out these special wooden box editions of the Air Jordan III, Converse Star Player, Nike Air Force 1 and Zoom Kobe VI. They’re relatively simple when compared to the ZKVI ‘Snake Crate’ or some of the other special packaging we’ve seen in recent years but it seems a fitting match to the sneakers’ understated dignity.
