Given Boston’s status as college capital of the US, it should come as no surprise that some of the most innovative sneaker collaborations come from Beantown boutiques. Concepts consistently raises the bar and with Bodega’s identity based in a rich theme, this one seems like something of a logical progression. And even with this context established, the Bodega x Reebok Pump AXT ‘Cotton Mouth’ remains one of the most wildly unique tag team efforts we’ve ever seen.
The story starts with BDGA ‘intern’ Terry Blay, a name you’re probably not all that familiar with, considering dude’s more or less a Muppet. So apparently Terry blacked out after a wild party during his short stint at Parsons, woke up in a classmate’s sneaker closet and found his entire life changed. From that point Blay was obsessed with kicks and cites the ‘Tennis Ball’ Court Victory Pump as a key influence for this project. His ‘Cotton Mouth’ rendition is equally well-conceived, a beige suede banger with red accents and a gum sole that’ll come with an array of Blay-inspired extras when they drop next Saturday, March 12th. They’re sure to be an instant sellout and the level of detail involved in the concept rivals the very best collaborations of all time, so click through to see more of the BDGA x Reebok AXT and let us know what you think, then head over to SneakerFreaker to read their interview with Terry Blay.
