With the New York Knicks’ recent acquisition of superstar Forward Carmelo Anthony, the excitement around his kicks should receive a nice upward boost. There’s no doubt that New Yorkers tend to get excited about their shoes, and Carmelo is the first player on the Knicks since Patrick Ewing to have a longstanding signature line of sneakers. Carmelo’s ties with the Jordan Brand Future Sole Program is one that has been well documented, as he even wore the winning Melo M6 design during the regular season and even the Playoffs. Syracuse University also received special PE colorways of Melo’s kicks, and with the Jordan Melo M7 also being one of the categories of the most recent Future Sole competition, a Syracuse PE of the M7 is likely to be coming as well.
Here’s a look at a never-before-seen version of the Jordan Melo M7, presumably re-interpreted from the Future Sole finalist Allen Largin’s design. It appears that the durable and lightwight Flywire material is used on the upper, which is now a smooth one-piece construction opposed to the multi-layer construction used in the released version. This Orange and Blue colorway also has us wondering if Jordan Brand has any more Knicks-inspired colorways of the Melo M7 planned for this year, or better yet, if Carmelo will wear any Air Jordan PEs in orange and blue.
