Yesterday, Sneaker News gave you preview at the Nike Lava Dunk, a hybrid boot that combined the Nike Lava Dome and the iconic Nike Dunk. Turns out the Lava Dunk was just the tip of the iceberg; the Nike Lava Dunk is part of the Nike Sportswear Athletics Far East, sort of a ‘yin’ to the Athletics West ‘yang’. Taking inspiration from the Athletics West training facility, the Nike Sportswear AFE collection originated in Nike Sportswear Design Studio in Japan and features a collection of classically inspired footwear, with the camouflage print being the signature staple of the Nike AFE capsule. We can expect two colorways of the Nike AFE Lava Dunk – black as well as a khaki beige – on October 1st, so continue reading for detailed gallery as well as full specs of this hybrid shoe and let us know what you’d expect from the Nike AFE (Athletics Far East) Collection.
“The Nike Sportswear Lava Dunk represents a fusion of east meets west, the courts clashing with the trails. A newcomer for Holiday ’10, the Lava Dunk showcases the foundation of NSW hybridization, shaping iconic design with elite performance. Launching as part of the “Athletics Far East” Collection originating from the Nike Sportswear Design Studio in Japan, a collection inspired by Athletics West re-imagined in the East. The AFE signature is a camouflage motif.
The Dunk’s unmistakable upper moulds with the Lava Dome’s sole tooling to create this winterized trailblazer. An EVA buffed midsole and boot-like hardware combine with ripstop nylon, ACG logo, wax laces, reflective hits and water repellency to round off the performance aesthetic. The Nike Zoom sockliner, high grade full grain leather and camo lining round off the design.”
