The sports-simulation video game market has proven to be a cutthroat business – companies paying millions for exclusivity rights, console platforms pushing for exclusives, and so on. The NBA Live vs. NBA 2K rivalry still remains after a decade – and with Michael Jordan gracing the cover the latest NBA 2K title, 2K11 appeared to have an edge once again, purely based on awesomeness factor. EA Sports is “countering” by introducing the Jordan Brand ‘Boost Pack’, which features an exclusive collection of in-game Jordan Brand apparel and sneakers like the Air Jordan XI – and is available only by pre-ordering NBA Elite ’11 (formerly NBA Live) at GameStop.
Another Jordan-related feature to Elite ’11 is the ‘Be Legendary – Be a Pro’ mode which allows you to create your own player and rise him through the 23 ‘Legend’ levels. Elite ’11 will have Kevin Durant – arguably the most ‘liked’ star in the NBA – on the cover and will also include three modes of “Boom-shakalakalaka”-inducing NBA Jam. So is the Jordan Brand ‘Boost Pack’ enough to get you on the EA side? Check out the Jordan “Become Legendary” video after the jump and let us know what you think.
