Originally relased in 1990, the Air Jordan V (5) was first retroed a decade later, back in 2000. The ‘Grape’ AJV was conspicuous by its absence, but a new colorway came along to celebrate another prominent era of MJ’s life. The ‘Laney’ Air Jordan 5 was a big hit, offering a bright colorway to commemorate Jordan’s triumphs at Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, NC. We saw a Jordan 60+ hit in this same palette last year and now it’s the new Air Jordan 2010 Playground Outdoor with the Laney treatment. This pair of AJ2010 Outdoors has the same shotgun perfed toe as the rest but the blue part of the upper is a breathable mesh, whereas other pairs employ nubuck in that area. Should make for a great shoe for what’s left of summer ball, and they’re available now at Foot Locker’s House of Hoops specialty locations.
