In late May Nike made public a “tweet” in which the Sportswear camp teased us with a mysterious message. “In a few days we will share something the world has never felt before.” Many of our readers had their guesses and in February 2011, it appears the one of the more popular hypotheses will become a near-truth. Here’s a look at the Air Jordan 6 Rings ‘Foamposite’; taken after the famous Dark Neon Royal colorway of the Nike Air Foamposite One, this Six Rings features the same Orlando Magic upper colorway featuring a lustrous royal blue on the mudguard and midsole. The tag on this sample pair states the blue color as Varsity Royal, but an official catalog calls it ‘Dark Neon Royal’, which we all know comes from the Penny Foamposite One.
However, whether or not the upper material is in Foamposite is yet to be determined, but a tentative $160 price-tag would be considerably low for a shoe of this magnitude – an actual Foamposite x Jordan shoe would probably achieve a higher price – making actual Foam material less likely. What is certain is the Penny Foam One inspiration behind the colorway and construction, which could possibly lead to more Air Jordans taking on the identity of popular Nikes of the past (maybe more Nike Penny x Air Jordan colorways?). This surely is an interesting development so continue reading for a detailed look and expect these to arrive in February 2011, or buy a sample pair of the Air Jordan 6 Rings ‘Foamposite’ available now from cigar0330 on eBay.
