When you remove the Air Jordan XVI’s magnetic shroud, you’re greeted by side panels with three triangular sections of heavy duty mesh. Outside the context of English comp., that’s probably the only valid comparison between the Air Jordan Legacy models and this new design, the reverse-named Jordan AIRS. It’s almost as if the shroud were swapped for an ankle strap, then the entire sole was replaced on the AJ16s, yet these have an identity all their own. This pair pictured above comes in the familiar bred colorway with a nice icey outsole, but click the jump below to see more images as proof that the Jordan AIRS ranks as one of the more interesting and unique basketball releases from Jordan Brand in quite a while. They’ll be out sometime in the next three to four months, so stick with Sneaker News for updates and more exclusive first looks.
