We’ve seen plenty of Nike hybrids this year and though this is one of the last ones most purists would have asked for, we get a new perspective on how similar the original designs actually were. Through the lens of the new Nike Air Max 24/7, it’s easy to see how the OG Air Max 95’s tiered tonal greys gave way to the sweeping reflective lines that encircled its successor, the Air Max 97.
Their offspring uses a 95 silhouette that modifies the upper’s tiering by making it smoother/flowier. About halfway down, the AM97 mudguard kicks in, separated from the rest by a familar reflective 3M piping. If we go a bit further, it seems that another Air Max runner has been incorporated, and this time it’s the Air Max+ 2009’s 360 degree Air cushion. It’s a pretty crazy look that ties in the last decade and a half of Nike running and you can count on Sneaker News for all your Air Max 24/7 updates. via NT
