The Etnies Sal Barbier Pro Model took skate sneaker style to the next level when they first dropped in the mid-90’s. The design was pretty basic, but the Air Jordan-inspired “23” that came stitched into the upper helped to bridge the gap between skate style and sneaker culture, which are now pretty much one and the same. It also helped perpetuate the practice of appropriating other brand’s logos for skateboard graphics.
Hawaiian sneaker retailer, In4mation teamed up with Etnies to re-release the Sal 23, with the design remaining pretty close to the original, aside from a new tag signifying the collaboration. If you thought you missed out, you’ll be happy to know that active still has some grey pairs in stock at a steal of a price. via NiceKicks.
