When you execute your concept this well, it can be a work of art, no matter how contrived or gimmicky that concept sounded on paper.  While a Japanese Monster Pack from Puma might sound like yet another piece of evidence that sneaker designers are running out of original ideas, you’ll understand why we have to restrain our enthusiasm for this pack once you see all the pictures.

Fondly remembering the villains of mid-20th century Japanese monster movies, Puma brings us four “royal” releases: the “Moth King” Clyde, the “Ape King” Puma Mid (yep, it’s called the Puma “Mid”), “Terror King” Stepper and the “Mecha King” and “Lizoid King” First Rounds (were they watching these films in Brooklyn?).

Each pair uses it’s horrible muse’s appearance as the jumpoff for the colours and materials.  The character-derived details are plentiful: all five sport lists of the creature’s “skills” on the tongue lining, with additional “attributes” and other artwork on the lining and insole.  These are set to drop in March, and we’ll update you as the release creeps up on you (pun intended).  Via HB
